Hundreds of scientific papers have been published around the world confirming the benefits of uterine embolization in well selected cases.

Some important papers in reviews published in Journals published by the American Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Society of Interventional Radiology and the American College of Gynecology and  Obstetrics.

  • EAU vs. Hysterectomy in treatment of symptomatic fibroids: a randomized controlled trial (EMMY trial).  Hehenkamp et all, AM HOUR OB.GYN  2005.

  • Uterine embolization is similar to Histerectomy, with a low rate of complications and less time of hospitalization.  25. Vs. 5.1 days.

  • Patient Satisfaction and quality of life after EAU Wendy et all, Am Jour OB-GYN 2004 (Satisfaction of patient and life quality after uterine embolization).

Patients treated with Embolization evidenced significant improvement of symptoms and excellent life quality according to a questionnaire of “health related quality of life” associated to high levels of satisfaction, including those cases that may require some re intervention.

1: Health Technol Assess. 2008  Mar, (12(5) : 1-248.

A multi-centre retrospective cohort study comparing the efficacy, safety and cost-effectiveness of hysterectomy and uterine artery embolisation for the treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids.

Uterine Embolisation is effective, less expensive and side effects are less than with a hysterectomy.
